Prof. Sidney M. Hecht of Arizona State University Visits SPS National Key Laboratory

  

  Prof. Sidney M. Hecht visited the State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs (SKLNBD) on April 10 and gave a lecture there in the afternoon. Prof. Hecht is the Director of the Center for BioEnergetics in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University and an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society . His visit was at the invitation of Prof. Zhang Lihe, who is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  In the lecture titled “Multifunctional Radical Quenchers as Mitochondrial Therapeutic Agents”, Prof. Hecht explained what MRQs are and how they could be potentially used for mitochondrial therapy. He presented a series of MRQ-related researches that his team has undertaken with coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10).

  “During his visit, Prof. Hecht will build ties with the PKU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences for deeper cooperation,” says Prof. Zhang Lihe.
