Deputy Director-General of International Atomic Energy Agency Visits PKU First Hospital

  Ms. Najat Mokhtar, Deputy Director-General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), visited Peking University First Hospital, accompanied by Commissioner Wang Jianping of China Atomic Energy Agency. They were met with Professor Wang Rongfu and other staff from the Department of Nuclear Medicine. The two parties held a friendly talk and exchanged opinions about enhancing the cooperation in the field of nuclear medicine.

  Ms. Makhtar said that IAEA has long been focusing on and improving the development of nuclear medicine in the fields of scientific research, continuous education, talent training, and health promotion. Special attention has been given to the development of nuclear medicine in developing countries like China. She encouraged clinical physicians and young students to actively apply for IAEA programs of cooperation, exchanges, education and training, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and cooperation between the member countries.

  In the end, Ms. Makhtar observed and inspected the Department of Nuclear Medicine. She was briefed on the department layout, clinical workflow, computer room, and the deployment of highly active room. She applauded the application of radioactive nuclide and the rigorous management and expressed the expectation that specialists of nuclear medicine would make contributions to the development of China’s nuclear science and nuclear medicine.
