PKU First Hospital Collaborates with University of Maryland Medical Center in Distance MDT

  A group of Chinese oncology experts, led by Professor Gao Xianshu, Dean of Department of Radiation Treatment of Peking University First Hospital (PKUFH), collaborated with Dr. Gopal Bajaj from the Department of Radiation Oncology of University of Maryland Medical Center in making an individualized treatment plan for a prostatic cancer patients. With the help of E-Health Now staff and via remote video, they made a detailed and systematic pathological analysis of the case and exchanged ideas about treatment with the patient’s family members during the consultation. It has been another successful attempt and an upgrade of practice by PKUFH since the launch of Sino-US medical distance Multi-Disciplinary Treatment (MDT).

  PKUFH Department of Radiation Treatment is the department that carried out radiation treatment the earliest in China and it is the cradle for our country’s talents in radiation. The landing of international MDT is PKUFH’s integrated innovation of medical experience. And it will facilitate more frequent and efficient MDT symposiums related with oncology, and enable patients to enjoy world-class medical service without going abroad.
