PKU School of Health Humanities Hosts Roundtable on Aging and Alzheimer's

  In May 28, a roundtable was held at Peking University School of Health Humanities to shed light on care of people living with Alzheimer's in the Chinese and global context of aging. The event featured keynote speaker Dr. Arthur Kleinman, professor of psychiatry and medical anthropology and Faculty Director of Social Technology for Global Aging and Eldercare in China Initiative at Harvard University, and a member of both the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The roundtable gathered experts from academia, care facilities and nursing facilities.

  

  During the roundtable discussion, experts approached the difficulties in the care of Alzheimer's patients from perspectives of treatment, nursing, homecare, and research, exploring collaborative solution of medicine, society and humanities.

  The roundtable reiterated the importance of medical humanities in addressing the challenges of Alzheimer's disease, improving the quality of life of patients and alleviating the pressure of caregivers.
