PKUTH Drug Clinical Trial Institution Attends The 15th ACoP
From November 10th to 13th, 2024, the 15th American Conference on Pharmacometrics (ACoP), sponsored by the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), was held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. With the theme of "The Past Is Prelude, A Bridge to New Horizons", this conference brought together experts and scholars from all over the world to jointly discuss the frontier issues and technological development trends in fields such as pharmacometrics, mathematics and computational science, and software and tools.
Researcher Liu Dongyang from the Drug Clinical Trial Institution of Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH) served as the moderator of the sub-forum on "Integrated Modeling, Endogenous Biomarkers and Real-World Research Methods to Support Precise Dosing in Special Populations", and delivered a special report titled "Clinical Needs and Gaps in Current Precision Medicine for Special Populations", introducing the progress and experience of the Drug Clinical Trial Institution in the research of virtual human pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in specific populations. Five research achievements (covering such fields as dexamethasone in the elderly and pregnant women, renal impairment, and AI modeling platforms) by Associate Researcher Cui Cheng and graduate students Xie Jie'en, Du Ruihu, Tian Zhiteng, Chen Jingcheng and Wu Yujie were presented in the form of posters. The research ideas of virtual human pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for specific populations in PKUTH attracted widespread attention from the participating scholars, and the AI modeling platform received cooperation inquiries from many enterprises, which provides a new opportunity to promote the consensus-building of precision treatment research for specific populations in PKUTH and expand international cooperation.
On November 14th, the team from the Institution was invited to visit the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where they conducted academic exchanges with the teams of Professor Leslie Z. Benet from the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and Professor Liang Zhao from the Department of Bioengineering of the School of Pharmacy at the university. The two sides carried out in-depth discussions on the frontier issues of pharmacometrics, team management and the cultivation model of outstanding students, and explored scientific research cooperation concerning the innovation of basic theories of pharmacokinetics and the application of new technologies.
