Practice Workshop
HK PolyU delegation of six, including Professor David H.K. Shum, Dean of Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Associate Dean Professor Jing Cai, Professor Yip Shea-ping, Head of Department of Health Technology and Informatics, Li Tian, Deputy Program Leader of Master of Science in Medical Physics and students, visited PKU and had academic exchanges and innovation practice with teachers and students from several mainland universities.
On the afternoon of March 24, HK PolyU teachers and students came to the Radiotherapy Department of PKU Cancer Hospital and participated in the medical physics clinical innovation practice workshop together with postgraduates from PKU School of Physics. While they understood in detail the physical problems and scientific research needs in image-guided radiotherapy, the interactive exchange also created opportunities for future scientific research cooperation between teachers and students of the two universities.
Beijing-Hong Kong-Lanzhou Medical and Engineering Cross Youth Academic Forum
As the second major event of this year’s Beijing-Hong Kong youth medical and engineering cross-innovation collaboration project, the Beijing-Hong Kong-Lanzhou Medical and Engineering Cross Youth Academic Forum was held in the 10th Meeting Room of PKU Cancer Hospital on May 13. Li Ziyu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC PKUCH Committee and PKUCH President, expressed a warm welcome to the visit of 11 HK PolyU teachers and students led by Dr. Li Tian.
From May 14 to 16, the Beijing-Hong Kong team visited the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Laboratory of Lanzhou Heavy Ion Accelerator. The two sides conducted extensive exchanges on the basic research and application transformation of national large scientific facilities, and reached a consensus on strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship in the fields of medical physics research, clinical practice and teaching in the three places of “Beijing-Hong Kong-Lanzhou” in the future.
During their visit, the Hong Kong Poly U teachers and students also carried out clinical practice of medical physics in PKUCH Department of Radiotherapy, and had an in-depth experience of Chinese nation’s long history, culture and rich folk traditions in Beijing and Lanzhou.
This series of activities were jointly supported by the Hong Kong and Macao and the Mainland Teacher-Student Exchange Program “Ten Thousand People Plan” (Beijing-Hong Kong Youth Medical and Engineering Cross-Innovation Collaboration Project) of the Ministry of Education, PKU Graduate Course Construction Funding Project (Cross-Department Medical and Engineering Cross-Innovation Practice Course Co-Construction and Sharing), and PKU Writing Center Practice Community Leader Project (Medical and Engineering Combined Innovative Research and Paper Writing Camp).
