Academician Zhuang Hui Granted Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award by APASL
On March 28, 2024, the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL 2024) held a grand opening in Kyoto International Conference Hall, Kyoto, Japan. Zhuang Hui, professor at the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University, and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was presented with the Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award. He was the fourth winner of the award in the history of APASL.
APASL is one of the leading associations dedicated to the research and treatment of liver diseases. Its annual meeting is the most influential academic meeting in the field of liver diseases in the Asian-Pacific region. As the highest honorary award of APASL, the Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award is designed to recognize individuals who have made outstanding scientific contributions in the field of hepatology. The award is given to individuals with outstanding social service history and leadership who have a positive influence over others in the field of hepatology at home and abroad.
Professor Zhuang Hui is one of the founders of Chinese Society of Hepatology. He has been devoted to the basic and prevention research of liver diseases for a long time and has made a series of distinguished scientific research achievements, which has made outstanding contributions to the prevention and control of viral hepatitis in our country and its research in the world. Professor Zhuang Hui has played a key role in all major events and key connecting points related to the prevention and control of viral hepatitis in China.
