Professor Gu Jin, Dean of Peking University Shougang Hospital, received a letter from Professor Conor P. Delaney, President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), congratulating Professor Gu Jin on his selection as Honorary Fellow of ASCRS. It is reported that there are currently 75 ASCRS Honorary Fellows worldwide, and 6 were approved this year. Professor Gu Jin has become the third ASCRS Honorary Fello in mainland China and the only clinical medical expert selected from mainland China this year.

　　ASCRS was established in 1899 and is one of the most authoritative associations of colon and rectal surgery worldwide. Since 1964, ASCRS has established Honorary Fellowship in recognition of outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of colon and rectal surgery worldwide. The selection is very strict, and up to 6 Honorary Fellows from outside the United States and Canada are selected every year. They need to be jointly nominated by ASCRS former president, current president, and president-elect and get the full vote (15 votes) of the executive committee to be selected.
