Bilingual Animated Short Film “The Torch in My Heart” Launched Online

On October 11, the bilingual animated short film “The Torch in My Heart” was launched on domestic and overseas Internet platforms. The seven-minute animated short film tells the touching story of Qin Jisheng, Liao Qinping, and Lv Tao, the three generations of a family of PKU medical staff, who guarded in succession people’s beautiful life on the ordinary post of obstetrics and gynecology. The film is also a special gift for the hundredth anniversary of the founding of CPC.

Qin Jisheng, the first heroine of the story, was a Communist Party member and went to Inner Mongolia to support the border area more than 60 years ago. She was admitted to the Medical School of Peking University (now Peking University Health Science Center) in 1950 and was one of the first regular doctors trained by China after liberation. Qin Jisheng devoted her life to the sacred profession of relieving pain for women in the border area of Inner Mongolia and won the second Lin Qiaozhi Cup. Her daughter Liao Qinping was one of the first college students after the restoration of the college entrance examination in 1977 and was admitted to Beijing Medical College (now PKUHSC). Greatly influenced by her mother's kindheartedness as a medical practitioner, she resolutely chose the obstetrics and gynecology as a lifelong career. She’s been dedicated to the profession for more than forty years and become a good doctor highly praised by the patients. In 2001, Lv Tao, Liao Qinping’s daughter, was admitted to the eight-year program of clinical medicine at PKUHSC. After graduation, she worked in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology PKU First Hospital.
