PKU First Hospital Approved as National Demonstration Base for China Heart Failure Center

At the China Cardiovascular Health Convention 2019 on December 27, Peking University First Hospital was approved as the “Demonstration Base for Heart Failure Center” by China Cardiovascular Association, China Heart Failure Center Association, and the accreditation working committee of China Heart Failure Center. Professor Ding Wenhui was appointed to the standing committee of China Heart Failure Center Association.

Ten years earlier, led by Professor Ding Wenhui, PKUFH’s Cardiovascular Department set up the outpatient section of heart failure and was engaged in the standardized diagnosis and treatment, and long-term management of heart failure. After the merging of hospital resources and gradual improvement, the present heart failure team includes professionals of multi-disciplines: cardiovascular doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, and rehabilitation therapists. The diagnosis for heart failure patients is completed by the coordination of heart failure specialists, cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, and coronary intervention doctors, which improves the diagnoses for patients with complicated and severe heart failures and standardizes the medication for patients. The team has also efficiently developed cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and mechanotherapy such as implantable cardiac defibrillators.
