BMJ Quality & Safety Chinese Edition Launched

  On October 13, the Launching Ceremony of BMJ Quality & Safety Chinese Edition and the First Summit of Healthcare Quality and Safety Management was held in Beijing. The event was hosted by Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH) under the guidance of Bureau of Medical Affairs and Administration of National Health Commission (NHCBMAA). About a hundred editorial board members witnessed this significant moment in the development of BMJ Quality & Safety Chinese Edition.

  

  BMJ Quality & Safety is co-owned by the Health Foundation and the BMJ Company. It is the official journal of America’s Institute for Healthcare Improvement and published by the BMJ. It has always been the leading journal in the field of healthcare quality management.

  On the editorial board of BMJ Quality & Safety Chinese Edition, Director Zhang Zongjiu of the NHCBMAA is the honorary Editor-in-Chief and Academician Qiao Jie, President of PKUTH, is the Editor-in-Chief, with other 13 presidents from well-known domestic hospitals being the deputy editor-in-chiefs. The editorial board has also included 29 distinguished manager from national level quality control centers and 35 from hospitals. The launching ceremony was a landmark event for the development of BMJ Quality & Safety Chinese Edition.

  

  In her speech, Academician Qiao Jie mentioned that the Chinese Edition will share international experience of healthcare management and data of evidence-based medicine via WeChat official account and paper publication. It will also deliver China’s authoritative voice so as to play a leading role in the development of healthcare quality and safety in China.

  

  Dr. Fiona Godlee, Editor-in-Chief of The BMJ, Joint CEO and Editorial Director of the BMJ Company, sent a congratulation video to the ceremony. She congratulated heartily on the launching of the Chinese Edition and expressed the hope that the Chinese Edition will build a platform and bridge for the cooperation in the research of healthcare quality management between China and the world. She anticipated the further collaboration between the two sides.

  

  The First Summit of Healthcare Quality and Safety Management was held at the same time. Focused on the themes of “summit discussion, quality first” and “innovative development, safety based”, six pieces of literature were shared and discussion held, centering around healthcare quality and patient safety. Specialists had heated discussions on the publicity and transparency of hospital evaluation information, the ratio of healthcare quality and nursing personnel, doctor-doctor, doctor-patient, and doctor-nurse communication, medical workers’ attention to their own psychology, and intelligent healthcare like AI and so on.
