Bayer Group from Germany visits PKUHSC

  On May 9, 2017, a group of 4 people from Bayer Healthcare, Germany visited Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC): Prof. Hanno Wild, Senior Vice President of Bayer Group, Hans Lindner, Vice President of Bayer and Director of Prescription Drug Division and Drug Development Division responsible for foreign-aid innovation and cooperation, Tom Kinzel, Director of Chinese Innovation Center under the division, and Xun Zhang, Manager of Innovation and Cooperation of Chinese Innovation Center. Academician ZHAN Qimin, President of PKUHSC, met with the foreign guests. The two sides held discussions about future cooperation.

  In February 2014, Bayer Healthcare and Peking University signed the first 3-year strategic cooperation agreement, which was mended in January 2016 to cover PKUHSC. The second 3-year strategic cooperation agreement officially covered PKUHSC and came into effect in February 2017.

  Bayer Group has set up a PKU-Bayer Healthcare Research Center for Drug Discovery and Transformation at Peking University to support the transformation of basic research results into new drug research and development and to encourage and recognize outstanding PKU scholars for their contributions in life sciences, chemistry, pharmacology, molecular medicine and other related fields. “Call for Project Proposals” this year focuses on the transformation of basic research results in the field of cardiovascular, oncology and gynecologic therapy into new drug research and development and technology research in drug development.
